Canine clumsy table

Chocolate labradors are the UK's most accident-prone dogs, according to research.

More than half need extensive veterinary treatment during their lives.

New research shows a chocolate labrador, despite often having black labradors as parents, is more than twice as likely to have an accident or suffer an illness as a black labrador.

The study shows 55% of chocolate labrador owners make an insurance claim each year to cover the cost of treatment, according to Tesco Personal Finance.

Staffordshire bull terriers are the next most likely breed to need a trip to the vet, with 52% having an accident or suffering an illness a year, while owners of rottweilers have a 44% chance of having to pay for treatment every year.

Poodles are the least accident-prone, with only one in five ending up at the vet's, while Shih Tzu's come a close second with just 22% suffering a mishap during their lives.

According to the study, the most accident-prone dogs are the chocolate labrador, Staffordshire bull terrier, rottweiler, springer spaniel and the German shepherd cross.

The least accident-prone are the poodle, shiatsu, corgi, basset hound and Pyrenean mountain dog.

I've only had to claim on my insurance once in the 3 years I've had Jas so I wouldn't exactly call Jas 'accident prone' but then again he's too much of a couch potato to get himself into any real trouble

I wonder why they say 'chocolate' labs are more accident prone

I'm not suprised either
When Dizzy and Tetley start to play you can be sure something will be broken (although the dogs themselves are always OK )

Interesting that some of the dogs mentioned (labs, staffy’s etc) are high up in the 10 most popular dogs category here in the UK I wonder if there is any relevance to this and the number of dogs having accidents, i.e. if there are more dogs then there are more accidents so with high numbers of each breed its no surprise they are on that list - does that make sense? I know what I want to say but its not coming out just right ops:
