Wallpapers

I've got a friends laptop here trying to work out why you cant have a wallpaper on his screen. Its a Hewlett Packard one and not very old,but just dont know why it wont give you the ability to click on one.

All the standard XP wallpapers are there like wind, zapotec etc,but you cant click on any of them and the only thing you can do is change the background colour.

Any ideas???

Try this Steve:

Click Start, click Run, and then type gpedit.msc.

Under Local Computer Policy, expand User Configuration, expand
Administrative Templates, expand Desktop, and then click Active Desktop.
Check to see if any of these settings are enabled, if they are, set them to
Not Configured.
Reboot the PC.

Hopefully that would of sorted you out.

Just remeber what they were before you changed them so you can put them back if it goes Pete Tong (wrong)

I havent got the laptop with me now Marie, but its strange cause i had his & mine sat side by side and all the settings were identical. It was bugging me all evening!!!

I did find the wallpapers by using the search facility and even double clicked on them so i could see them, but when you right click on the image to 'save to desktop'-it wouldnt.

Anyway,i've copied what you said and i tell him to bring his laptop into work so i can have another bash!

Cheers Marie!

To find your wallpapers without searching follow this string

C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper

You can delete the default ones and put your own in there and your pc won't know the differance.
