Judging for the first time!

OMG closer than I thought my first judging appointment is nearly upon me!! (10th September) my other half's too on the same day! Any tips from anyone out there? Have done all the KC stuff on conformation & movement & requirements of a judge and passed but suddenly I am panicking!

Don't panic just go out there and enjoy your day and judge the right end of the lead.

Just don't rush it. Stand and look dignified, have a good look, don't be afraid to run dogs again if you are not sure. Give yourinstructions very clearly and don't mutter. My first appointment drew an entry of 18 in three classes, the problem was not so much putting good dogs in order, but putting some mediocre ones in order, all with different faults - so I had to decide which were less critical!
I spent ages choosing BOB for similar reasons - both excellent dogs but one was not in top condition and the other didn't want to know although being very close to the standard otherwise!

Most of all, enjoy!

Good luck!

Gill

I have to say, I find the stress of it all so bad, that I have decided never again, I hate it.

Thanks everyone!!

And the most important thing to me is to judge the correct end of the lead! Have been in the ring with the wrong face on many occassions and it made me so mad!

Have judged at many a match night so not sure why I am panicking over judging my own breed!

Will let you all know how it went

Kady xx
