Happy 1st Birthday Thornton

Today is not the anniversary of our baby's final day but his first birthday and I felt I would cope better with my sadness if I shared his birthday with everyone here.

Thornton was a black spotted Dalmatian and was only 10 weeks old when he caught a heart infection. He was only 22 weeks old when we lost him and I know we didnt have him long but I still grieve for the little chap.

Today he would have been one year old and I often wonder what he would have looked like now, a big dog with a lot of energy instead of the weak and frail little mite we had grown to love.

We now have Phoebe who is a lively and adoring 8 month old Liver spotted Dally. She came to us as a puppy and gave us strength to cope with losing Thornton and she and our other dog, Sophie are loved dearly.

Happy birthday Thornty

It is so very sad when the babies die with their potential unfulfilled and we are left to think "I wonder what he would be like now".

Maybe it is a small consolation to think that, in his short life, he knew only love, kindness and the best of everything that you could give him.

R.I.P baby Thornton
