Alaskan Malamute - moulting

My Mal has just started moulting again....and this time seems to be worse than the other times she has moulted....I find her hairs in unexpected places, everything seems to be like a magnet lol....they're everywhere!

Just wondering because I know there are other malamute owners on here, how do they cope with the hair?

I've even invested in a pet hair hoover to help us cope with her!!!

I cope with the hair by not having anything that hair can stick to!

I did away with carpets and curtains years ago, and changed my velour suite to a leather one!

Every part of downstairs is now wipe and sweep clean!

Is she due in season? Mal bitches tend to start moulting heavily several weeks before a season

We have 3 Mals in the house and when the 2 girls shed it can be horrific

I bath mine during the shedding and use a slicker brush before bathing them. Then I use the blaster (outside) to help get rid of any dead hair

I have a Kirby vacuum cleaner which gets used twice a day during the shedding season

Oh and I warn ANY visitors to the house to NOT wear black or any dark colours and to firgive any tea/coffee/food if it contains dog hair

I agree with the above posts I have 4 mals and when they blow their coats you definately know it, the only thing I can say is brush brush and brush, give her a bath (that helps loosen it up more) and if you can blast her coat out, the sooner you get the old out the sooner the new can come through.

Lol,thanks for the advice, maybe we will change a few things around the house...

I do try and keep her out in the garden most of the day when it's dry but it's mostly when she comes in at nights, our carpets are covered,I have to scrub my carpets with my horse's body brush to get the hair up that Flow has left behind..or use sellotape on our clothes....i've even found a couple in the fridge ....sounds a little disgusting doesnt it

But theyre bloody everywhere!!

No wonder I never get any visitors lol...

Oh and when does the new hair come through?

I've just given her a real good brushing outside and she has a massive bald patch just above her hind leg.

Shouldnt take too long, couple of weeks of her looking out of coat, we get hair in our food. drinks and everywhere, you cant be too picky about hair if you own malamutes lol it floats all over the place, our dogs are not allowed upstairs but I still find mal hair up there lol.
