Old and new lighthouse at Beachy Head E Sussex

The old lighthouse ( called Belle Toute) was moved 500 yards back away from the cliff edge and now decomissioned above, and below the new one at Beach Head

That is were Sue and I went this afternoon and the sea mist made it difficult to photograph anything with my camcorder.
Even these cottages won't be there much longer ,thee one this end has already gone over the cliff edge

This is at Birling gap which is about 3/4 mies west of Eastbourne.

What a shame that the cottages will be lost.

Beautiful spot. How awful for the people in the cottages losing their homes in that way

I have never been there. Looks such a dramatic coastline. It's a shame the cottages will be lost. I wonder if the families in them have had financial assistance to find a new home.

I think they belong to the National Trust now but reading past news reports when the first ones were demolished (1998 and 2000) there was talk of the owners having to pay for it There used to be seven but now only four are left. They lost something like 3 metres in 3 months last year due to the storms.
