If you could design your own house...

We're talking your absolute dream house where money is no object

What would be your must have's within it?

I would love a Long Island style house two storied and with a basement, huge verandah - big open lounge with beautiful wooden flooring, with large deck windows that open the width of the wall with that all essential telescope to view the lake or sea

But my essential rooms to have has to be a laundry room - it drives me insane not to have one presently hmmm so much for big dreams LOL I'd love a big garden with a glass space - not conservatory but one with solid glass only.

Lucky dreams are free

Do I know what you mean

I cant explain in words what its gonna look like, but have drawings of my dream house lying ready in case it gets possible to buy land to built on.

Not a big chance itīll ever happen, but just in case.............
We were actually close last year but close doesnt mean quite there

As some of you know, I am building my own shortly and although I could have started from scratch, I am buying a timber framed house "off the shelf". However, I am allowed to make some changes within the design. It not big, nor is the garden area, but I have a barn big enough to park the camper in, three stables and a feed room, and a holding yard. Oh, and an acre paddock. It's not huge but being on my own with no budget for outside help, I want something that "has everything" I want in the right proportions, but small enough that I don't spend hours cleaning it!

Just waiting for the means to go ahead.... no money at the moment and no job

my house would be built on loads of land the outside space would have a large pool built for Barney

The house would have a large entrance hall with a beautiful winding staircase - essential rooms would be a doggy washroom, a posh living room and an every day living room, in the master bed room I would have a walk in dressing room and an en suite bathroom.

Outside I will have chickens, horses, donkeys, all rescued and I would have a kennelled area where I could put any stray dogs or cats until I could find them a home - or even put any animals on death row because they are no longer wanted.......

.......better put my lottery ticket on

I would want a place with lots of land, not too big a house (don't want to soend all day cleaning it!!) but would have to have stables, room for loads of chickens, poly tunnels for my veg and room for sheep, and room for all the unwanted dallies to stay

don't want too much do I??

I think you'll do it AM, a bit of determination and will gets along way these days - when you do, don't forget to post pictures

Wish you well Gill with the job search, it'll come in time - a friend I know has been out of work in Denmark for over 2 years because he is in such a specialist area - we were worried for him and his family as the bills were flowing in heavily bit were overjoyed to hear that last week he finally secured a job, house is now safe - he never gave up but I have to say we were worried for him - if it were me my self esteem would have been down the drain after 2 years of frustration.

Your house sounds like it is going to be beautiful, you are fortunate for sure to be able to build on a beautiful piece of land! do let us know how you get on with it
