He sounds lovely, please dont spoil your relationship with him trying to be the Alpha, he is a dog, you are a human
Have a read of some of the threads on here, look up Kikopup on you tube and grab some books like 'the other end of the leash' ' bones would fall from the sky' ' in defense of dogs' ' dont shoot the dog'
Enjoy your dog, reward the things he does you do like, train something different with the things you do like - and dont worry that he is going to try and take over the world if he gets food before you

I am rewarding him and training him etc.

Was just advised these things by a behaviourist near us. I've never done this, I've just normally trained a dog through reward.

Thanks x

sounds like you are better than the behaviourist - just ignore him, they are not all good

How do I delete this post lol?

There are soooooo many articles about being the pack leader but I've never done that before. I've always just done commands and treated them, played with them etc. It's all a bit new to me. I always thought that being the Alpha that the other dogs sometimes attack it to become alpha themselves and I don't want that :S

Obviously I can't read the first post now, but unless you are having problems with your dog you shouldn't worry about these things.
Anyways it's more about houserules, letting the dog know all goods come from you and "dominating" in a clever way - not just rolling the dog on the floor and creating battles.

There`s a good book written by Jean Donaldson who has more qualifications than you can shake a stick at that shpws how to train and understand your dog called The Culture Clash.
Why not have a read and find a puppy class that uses modern , positive methods instead of this bully?
