In Estrelas not many people do score. The lowest recorded score was 0:1 and that was from the same kennel my dogs are from. There have only been 65 dogs scored so far.

Yes numbering is an issue however there are several breeds with fewer numbers scored which have 0:0 hip scores.

My Oz has a bad hip and i would like to know if it was genetic or something like catching his leg as a youngster jumping a fence..

But even low scoring parents can produce dysplastic pups, as the method of inheritance is not fully understood.

That is true, however that does not mean dogs should not be health tested does it?

If I had a choice of ANY breed under the sun, I would ALWAYS choose a dog from health tested breeding stock after determining the health issues in the breed and what, if any, relevant health tests existed for them.

I would not buy a house without a survey.
I would not buy a car without an MOT
I would not buy a fridge without a CE mark.

Why would I buy a dog that did not have the canine equivalent?

But who chooses what tests are needed for what breeds ..?
Breed health councils are mostly run by breeders right ??

I never said they shouldn't Merely that Murf's dog may have had a dodgy hip anyway.
