Deaf White Boxer Bitch Needs a Home

My sister has finally decided to rehome the dog they should never have bought in the first place (but thats a different story!)

Roxy is a 2 year old, deaf boxer bitch. She has lived with small children all her life (my sister has 4 kids between the ages of 3 and 10) and has learnt she needs to be careful when they are around.

Generally she is a very boisterous dog who needs further training and socialisation. She is not aggressive in anyway to people or dogs but has lived a very sheltered, boring life and hence finds the world very exciting, but she is not timid.

Further toilet training may be required as this dog is left long hours alone and as a result is used to doing her business on the floor. She has never lived with cats/other animals and is not used to travelling in a car.

This dog has been bought on a whim by my sisters bf and then turned out to be deaf and of a slim build - not the kind of dog who fits his image unfortunately. The everyday care has then been left to my sister who doesnt have the time or inclination to give this dog what she so desperately needs and craves.

I'm quite desperate to find this dog the right home as they go on holiday in 4 weeks and have made no provisions for her. The bf simply wants to get rid of her on Gumtree or Preloved but Roxy is not spayed so we can probably guess the kind of home she'll get. Furthermore, this dog is not treated with a kind hand and is not being fed properly as they cannot afford the food.

It's a shame I cannot take her in temporarily but there is no way Flynn would accept her and all Hell would break loose if I tried!

So, if you are interested or know of anybody who might be willing to take on a challenge then please get in touch because I really dont want to see this dog end up in a Chav home as a breeding machine.

Leanne if she needs a temp home for a bit I can take her, I have the room and Louie would love the company and I have the time to work on some extra training - I have a crate (not sure if she'd fit though) Let me know, if she doesn't get a home or the rescues can't take her I don't mind for a bit

Awwww, thanks Aimee but you probably dont know what you would be letting yourself in for, it would be riot with the 2 of them running about!

Bear in mind Roxy has hardly ever been out in her 2 years and has hardly ever met another dog...On the couple of occassions i've met her she's been of her head because somebody has actually bothered to pay her some attention and reach for a toy! I'm sure she'd calm down though if she was given the exercise and training she needs.

I know you mentioned it last week but wasnt sure if it was just a flippant remark but i'll add you to the list!

Add me to the list...you know the walks I have around me and I don't mind keeping her on lead - it's Louie that frustrates me 'cos I know he can come offlead but in some situations it's not ideal lol.
And we meet up enough for you to get to see her progress and let your sister know if she's getting on OK or not. It'll only be a temp home anyway- I'm in no way able to train a deaf dog lol, I have selective deafness to deal with and thats hard enough

I hope she finds her home soon..

I wish I could help!

SLB, Training a Deafie is rather easy, especially if you talk with your hands anyway They already watch closely, and if this girl is as happy for attention anyway, she'd be velcro and quite willing to do stuff for cookies and pats.
