Break Down Advice

Just wondered - if you break down in the road and you don't have a mobile, any break down numbers or any change on you (usually me when I drive to the woods for a walk) what is the best thing to do?

I'm not being smart - the answer is just don't get yourself in that situation. Have your mobile and the numbers. It's crazy not to.
(Yes I have got a daughter I worry over.................)

True but I'm so scatty I just rush out with dog treats, lead and water - I never remember my phone. It just struck me today that I woulnd't know what to do if it happened (I saw someoen break down at a junction).

Best thing to do is stay with the vehicle until you see another one passing-then flag it down and ask them to notify a breakdown service, garage or the Police. If you are in an isloated place-best to lock yourself inside the car until a car comes, but use common sense-because there are some weirdos out there!

Always best to keep a mobile on you though-just in case...

Put the local garage/the AA/RAC/GreenFlag number in your mobile NOW , put your mobile beside the dog treats/car keys before you even start to get ready to go out.
Pick it up as you go, put it in your glove compartment - sorted.
Don't you need your mobile? - what if your dog hurt itself badly on the walk?.....have you got the vet number in your phone?

Make sure you've got a kit of stuff in your glove box anyway - coz they could come in handy - first aid kit including gloves - important in case you witness accident and need to help someone, torch, whistle - important, reflectors, and if you really felt the need, a pager that is used in emergencies only - but make sure you've got a spare set of batteries.
