gas & electric prices through the roof!

I'm totally gobsmacked!
Up until last November we paid just over £60 a month on DD for our gas & electric & were always in credit.
They are now asking for £400 per month!!! WTF. We've checked & double checked the meter readings, I know we have an extra body in the household, but this is beyond belief - we haven't even had the heating on for months, just the water.
The only thing we can think of is maybe because the bolier is old - it does get serviced but we don't want to fork out for a new one & the bills remain so high.

BTW, I'm scared to put the light on tonight!!

Can't you phone them and ask if they've made a mistake? It does seem a huge jump

Hub was on the phone all morning - with no conclusion come to. he knows what he's talking about & all the big kilo dubry wotsit per hour words as he used to sell commercial gas/electric. He's just as baffled but is going to investigate further.

that's awful! the company i was with raised mine from £60 to £116 a month, and i thought that was bad. when i started the process to move to another firm they miraculously dropped it to £50 a month and credited my account with £20.

sounds like something is wrong there, hope you get it sorted soon.

Yes we are thinking about changing too - it just can't be right, but gonna have the boiler checked first.

When we got a MASSIVE bill in some months back, I almost fainted!!! OH phoned them and they had the completely wrong meter reading. Our meters are in the garage, so we tend to show the meter guys the garage and leave them to it. They adjusted it when my OH read the correct meter reading over the phone.

Our elec and gas is astronomical - put together, they are like a small mortgage every month
