Help! Don't know how to receive pics on mobile!

A friend is trying to send me pics from his mobile to mine. No message is coming up, I have had a flick through the menu's and there is mutimedia but nothing that remotely tells me about received pics. I don't have a manual for the phone as I was given it second hand. My friend's wife suggested maybe it "isn't set up". How do I know? How do I set it up?
Can anyone help?

You may need to contact customer services for your company and they send a code to set up picture messaging-I had to do that with O2

It's O2 on a Nokia. I tried looking on the website but it didn't recognise my number even though I used them a couple of years ago when I had the same number.
Picture messaging....hmmmm...... I'll look for that on the menu again.

if you go into settings there should be a part called connectivity , select it and it will say blue tooth or infa red , select which one your friend has on her fon, and just turn it on , your friend will need to be near you for it to work ,
or another option is to text pic on to 20 20 i think it is and your service provider will send u settings and you just save them , they send you instructions by text of how to save them hope that helps xx

My friend is nearly 300 miles away so I guess that's out.
Not sure of 2020 would work on an ROI sim card.......
I'll text him and ask how he has sent it.....
