The sad day has dawned :o(

The sad day has dawned. Our trusty Nissan Primera (which we inherited free of charge!) has contracted a terminal disease (corrosion of a front crossmember) and is about to become incapable of providing the excdellent service which has been its trademark since it came to us in 1998. It has transported passengers, shopping and dogs without complaint - only once did it succumb to the Orkney weather and refuse to start (and even that was put right with comparative ease). It has sailed through MoTs with never a problem other than tyres (wear and tear) and it is with great sadness that we will say farewell to it.

For a few days only, Snorri Mansions is a two-car estate. We have acquired a secondhand Hyundai Accent coupe, which, at 1.3 litres, is slightly less "overkill" than the 2 litre Nissan, for this neck of the woods. We had a good look at it beforehand, and had the benefit of a knowledgeable assessment from the chap who did the MoTs on it (he did our Nissan, too), and a wee run about in it - but the final decision went to............ Kali Kolsson. He had to ensure that there was enough room in the back for him.

And, of course, ladies, the most important thing - it's blue, and the petrol goes in the back end.

Snorri

Indeed - it was one of the good ones - built in Sunderland in 1993! I'd have recommended it to anyone! We hadn't even clocked 100,000 on it, but, up here, getting even 3000 miles on the clock is hard; the longest trip we make, usually, is the 30-mile round trip to Kirkwall
