Pets research: whats your relationship like?

I'm doing some research atm on your relationship with your companion animals/ pets. my personal interest in dogs but this survey is open to all pet lovers.

One think I'm looking to find out is do you think your dog is more of a family member for instance than a rat or are they equally important?
do you treat your dog like any other family member ?
