Always (apparently) hungry, not putting on weight but not worms

Eddy's going to be 14 next month, he's lost a lot of weight recently but the vet wasn't concerned. He's often fussy over his kibble but will eat.

However, the last few days he's tucking into chews like he never has before, his begging has worsened but he really does seem hungry.

Now, I'm not giving into him - he's not getting any, don't worry but he's actually screaming at us

I'm taking him for his vaccs on Friday so was going to ask the vet but does anyone have any ideas?

Is he just playing us or is there possibly a medical reason? They've both been wormed recently.

I'm not exactly knowledgable on canine physiology, but could it perhaps be a change in metabolism.

I'll ask Skooshbag.

Mum's suggested that if he's not putting weight on (which he's not) we should feed him if he's hungry, but when he is with it, he's so damned clever that we'd have to be very careful not to let him think that the barking has got him the food.

it sounds very similar to me. I'm constantly hungry, so I'm eating constantly. Even after having a gut busting dinner about an hour ago I can feel the hunger coming again. I have always had a high metabolism, but I have never been like this, so thoughts are turning to a thyroid problem.

but he would put wt on even though he was forgetting he had eaten already. i would say a thyroid problem i presume it works the same in dogs as it does in cats?

They were my thoughts ATD...

I'll ask the vet when I go on Friday see what she thinks. I'm not sure if a thyroid test was done in his recent-ish blood tests although I don't think so...
