would this cross hurt the mum?

see a german shepherd cross cocker spaniel, mum is the cocker... is it just me or does this sound weird? wouldnt that hurt the mum? or would she have less pups?
just me being nosy as i really cant see it as cockers are so small compared to GSDs!

yes probably, I think if people try to cross purposley for some reason they usually make the female the larger breed and the male the smaller. I think thats right

If the sire is bigger than the dam, then it could be a problem for the dam to give birth, depending on the size difference and the size of the pups...

Ouch is all i have to say! If the cocker is a show cocker they are gen small and would have problems with this.

A friend had a Westie bitch that got mated by a collie and though she only had 3 pups it nearly killed her because they were so big. She had a c section as one got stuck but they all died in the end and it was touch and go for her.

It wasn't very nice and my friend was very upset, we were 10 or 12 at the time so it left an impression! Looking back they were not the best dog owners and both the dogs they had were allowed to stray.
