Help! My little girl needs to lose 5 pounds!

Hello there! I joined this forum to enlist your help. My yorkie mix has become obese. We moved back to my parents after my divorce and I work two jobs and am in college. My family has been a great help with Annie, but my mom has been feeding her table scraps, meatballs, turkey, cat food, etc. I tell her over and over again to stop, and after our yearly visit to the vet yesterday my vet made it very clear annies health is in jeopardy due to her weight (she is 16 and should be 12 pounds). After a huge blow out fight, she has agreed to stop killing my dog. Now, to get Annie back to health, obviously extra exercise, but what dog foods should I check out? She no longer likes dry food. Would beneful be helpful? What foods/ingredients should I steer clear of? Thank you all so much!

if she wont eat it dry food maybe try and find a good quality wet food.

cut down on all of the scraps and treats shes been getting, dont give her any.

feed her 2% of her body weight a day. for example, my dog weighs 5kg and she has 125ish g a day.

up her exercise, longer walks or more walks, and play with her more.

she will soon lose the weight.

you could try giving her dry food in a feeding ball. My dog won't eat it out of her bowl but will from the ball, plus that way she is having to move around to eat so is getting exercise too!
