Types of Dogs and Specialities..

Just looking at an overseas police forces dog unit(My cousin is a police officer there )

Do you agree with the list ..??

General Purpose - German Shepherd
Drug Detection - Labrador or English Springer Spaniel
Victim Recovery/Blood Detection - Labrador or English Springer Spaniel
Firearms Recovery - Labrador or Springer Spaniel
Explosive Detection - Labrador or English Springer Spaniel
And the last one was ..
Conflict Resolution - Belgian Malinois
Belgian Malinois are used in situations where less lethal force is one of the options to secure a person in a very serious situation.

By and large yes. The BSD Malinois is now often used as the "non compliance" dog of choice by the military and police.

Faster and more athletic than the GSD.

(From the appropriate background obviously)

Watching footage of a Malinois taking down a driver of a van through a window was amazing ...

Non-compliance dogs are also used as "Firearms support dogs", where you need a dog who works quickly, quietly, (doesn't need constant handler reinforcement and direction) and determinedly, who is capably of disabling/disarming or neutralising a gunman so the humans don't get shot.

I.e the dog is less lethal to the highly dangerous suspect than a bullet, but the suspect avoiding getting non-lethal injuries is not the primary concern.

Non-compliance dogs generally don't do a stand off, unlike general purpose (GP) dogs, i.e they will bite at the end of a search, not just indicate (or the gunman would just shoot the easy target dog who had given its position away), and they will bite a stationary suspect/criminal, and so have to be used with care.

Some forces use BSDxGSDs

Some forces also use Rotts as GP and non-compliance dogs

lol snap katygeorge

I used to like seeing Boxers being used by the forces - wonder why so few use them these days?

Re the list, yeah it looks about right - regarding how those breeds are being used these days.
