Dogsey

We are a married couple of 10 years, both 31 years old. (as of April 2011) When we moved in together 12 years ago my wife brought her male German Shepherd Dog called Zak to live with us. Zak was part of the family and unfortunately was put to sleep at aged 10 as advised by the RSPCA because he was severley anxious:( I fear he learnt that from me as I suffer from anxiety but we will never know! He is missed terribly and will never be forgotten. When Zak passed away, life without a dog was not very nice at all. After only 2 days we made a trip to our local rescue kennels and came away with a grogeous doberman x bitch who was 6 months old at the time. She didnt have a name and was only recognised by a number! We didnt chose her, Missy chose us! She was so cute and as soon as they brought her out of the kennel to meet us she jumped on my knee and wouldnt get off. Needless to say she came home with us that day and we have never looked back. It turned out she fitted in so well with our lifestyle and gets on with the horses so well. We can even leave her in the stable with them without a problem. When she reached 12 months we realised we would reward her for a great 6 months and thought she would love a playmate. Before just jumping head first into getting another dog we did alot of research. Upon gathering this research we discovered various traits about Missy which we love were also in Beagles. Infact we will go as far to say now that Missy has some Beagle in her somewhere. Her white tip on her tail and white under belly, her personality and also the slit in each ear are all evidence of beagles. Anyway, a search happened for a Beagle. Missy is very excitable so after posting on dogsey and getting some great advice which we took, we decided upon roughly a 1-2 year old male Beagle. After various leads and enquiries we were contacted about Polo. I instantly knew he was right for us, his story told me a tale and I knew I had to improve his life. He was sold as a young puppy to a couple who to be completely honest neglected him. He was poorly treated, rarely walked and came to us undernurished, underweight, scared, his ears were ripped apart to a point were there was no hair in certain places!! It was appaulling really. We even paid £700 for him but I didnt care. We could have bought a perfectly healthy Beagle, the same age but for alot less. They maybe saw us coming but I dont care. He is worth every penny and he has repayed us with everything and more! Both Missy and Polo are best buddies. The protect eachother, cry for eachother and are inseperable. We couldnt have found a better match for both us and them! Hopefully we will have many many happy years to come and I am sure Zak is looking down on us now with his blessing Update - April 2011 - Our lovely Beagle had puppies last month and we kept one of them for ourselves. Meet Woody everyone :) 3 dogs is alot but we just couldnt resist having one of Polo's pups, opportunity to good to miss! Update - Jan 2012 - Unfortunately Missy died following an operation to remove some stuck fluff from her stomach. She comtracted Peritonitis and died age 6 leaving behind her best buddy Polo and her little man Woody :( RIP Darling x x Update July 2014 - With massive regret im updating this profile with some more awful news. Polo was put to sleep after contracted pancreatitis. Losing Missy and Polo in such a short space of time has destroyed us. He leaves behind his Son Woody. RIP Big Man xxx
