Ofcom and ITV receive dozens of complaints about Britain's Got Talent's talking dog

As Britain’s Got Talent acts go, she was certainly a conversation starter – a ‘talking’ dog with singing skills and a sense of humour.
But some viewers at home were less dazzled by Miss Wendy's false mouth trick - and questioned the effect of the 'cruel' stunt on the dog.

Yeah that dog looked so distressed (not) some people complain about everything in life, it was one of the better acts.

I bet lots of the callers were PETA members or something All dramatic over nothing. The word cruel is tossed about so pointlessly. I bet that dog is taken very good care of and loved very much.

Hm what about the dog that said sausages on Esther Rantzen show. I had a collie that talked all the time. Be it her own type of language. I would have been more concerned about the yorkie and the antics that got up to.

Probably going to get some backlash for this, but to me the dog doesn't look happy. Neither does the boston terrier further down, and it's mouth looks totally fake!
I read elsewhere that to make sure the dog didn't pant or lick it's lips and spoil the act it had it's mouth taped shut. Not sure if there is any truth at all but sort of makes sense that the mask or something underneath had to be keeping the dog's mouth closed.

Not something I would have a dog doing, especially if it looked that worried, but then again you wouldn't catch me standing on stage in front of anyone. I also think it's quite likely that the dog look scared because it was on a tiny table in an unusual environment with so much going on, maybe nothing to do with the mask at all.

I had no idea the dog had a mask until I saw it on the news. I thought after the act that maybe she was being pinched each time the owner wanted her mouth to open but after looking at it again it didn't appear so. I will admit it did make me laugh at the time but then the way the dog raced off the stage like she couldn't get away fast enough.

I didn't watch the end. My OH thought it was fantastic too, and was probably so distracted that he didn't look at how the dog was acting past the moving mouth. That said he's not overly great at reading dog body language anyway.
I did feel sorry for the poor pup.
