Police appeal for information after seizing stray dogs in Sutton Coldfield

POLICE are appealing for information after two stray dogs who were ‘terrorising the public’ were seized last weekend.

The dogs, a Rottweiler and a husky, allegedly attacked a male and jumped at windows in Barnard Road in Sutton Coldfield on Saturday (November 22).

Police eventually seized the dogs near Wheatmore Rise and put them in kennels however the owners have not been located as of yet.

An eyewitness said: “Late Saturday afternoon two dogs (a Rottweiler and husky) were terrorising the public in the Whitehouse Common area.

“My son was attacked by the Rottweiler and had to run for his safety and it also went for the attending police officer.

“Other members of the public were also at risk as the dogs roamed around and house-owners on Barnard Road were told to stay inside their houses as the dogs hovered around the driveways, jumping up at windows.

“The police eventually caught the dogs by Wheatmore Rise but were unable to find the owners. This is the second time these dogs have been on the loose.”

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “The incident was reported to us at 5.30pm. Two stray dogs were seized by our dog unit and put in kennels at 8.10pm.

“Nobody has reported dogs missing so we are appealing with anyone with information to come forward and call us on 101.”

I hope the irresponsible owner/s are found and that the dogs do not pay the ultimate price for having been let loose.

From the description of their behaviour, I would suspect that these dogs have been 'dumped'.
