Puppies rescued in Dagenham

81 puppies and dogs have been seized from an address in Dagenham, following allegations of animal cruelty.

Officers carried out a warrant at an address in Grafton Road this week and arrested a man and woman, both aged 32 and from the Barking area.

They were arrested at the scene for causing unnecessary suffering to animals, under Section 4 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and for being involved in the illegal trade and sale of puppies.

Both have been bailed until a date in late November pending further enquires.
The animals were taken to a vet in Kent for treatment and care.
“The dogs that were rescued from the address were found in appalling conditions. They were so small they could be placed in the palm of my hand. It was a sad sight to see them so weak and feeble. This is just part of extensive investigation that is being carried out by the RSPCA".

– Police Sergeant Ian Lee, Whalebone Safer Neighbourhood Team

Shocking - but at least the puppies are safe now and I hope they thrive.

This is pure greed and done for the money, they cannot have any real love for the dogs to treat them so badly. I just hope they are never allowed to keep any animals in future. I hope all the pups survive and are brought back to full health.
