A dog has been put down after it was attacked at its owner's house in County Londonderry, police have said.
The jack russell, named Busker, was struck with a "blunt object" in the back garden of the property in Maple Drive, Coleraine, on Sunday morning.
The dog failed to recover from its injuries and had to be put down.
Police said the dog was hit on the head a number of a times, possibly with a hammer.

No further news as yet as to why the dog was attacked, but I know what I would like to do to the person who hit the dog on the head with a hammer.
