A FRENCH Bulldog and a Pug, both in milk, have been stolen from the home of Amanda Ellis (Eastonite).

They were playing in the front garden which is surrounded by a secure, 4ft 6in fence when they were taken.

Miss Ellis believes the thieves were in two white vans spotted on a film shot in the area, and that they leaned over the fence and looped leads over their heads to haul them up and over the fence.

The French Bulldog – De Morgan Vera Eastonite – was still feeding her three-week-old litter, which is now being nursed by another bitch, and the five-week-old litter of the Pug – E Mrs Mops – had been weaned. Both bitches are two years old and microchipped.

Miss Ellis, who lives in Deeping St Nicholas near Peterborough, said she is horrified by what happened.

"I was numb at first but then phoned the police, dog warden etc, although I have not had much response,” she said. "I’m told that thieves often target dogs on Friday afternoons as all the agencies are preparing to stop for the weekend.
