Shih Tzu is mauled to death by two Staffordshire bull terriers in unprovoked attack

A mother-of-four was today mourning the death of one of her beloved Shih Tzus after it was attacked by two Staffordshire bull terriers during a walk.

Debra Forman, 48, of Oldham, Greater Manchester, saw her 'worst nightmare' come true when tiny seven-year-old Ebony was killed after the viscious dogs launched an unprovoked attack.

She said she was terrified when the dogs attacked her two beloved pets, and claimed the bull terriers' owner was talking to someone else while her dogs roamed free of their leads on a path.

After the attack, Ebony died in intensive care at a vet's from her horrific injuries, which included a severed wind pipe and cuts and bruising.

Millie, who is a rescue dog, suffered severe puncture wounds to the neck, back and abdomen - but is battling for her life at home.
...[snip]...
Greater Manchester Police revealed it had launched an investigation to find out if the dogs were 'dangerously out of control'.

Poor Ebony - I do hope Millie pulls through and recovers, and that the owner of the dogs involved at the very least keeps the dogs on lead and muzzled from now on.

Tragic.Made even worse by the fact that it could have been avoided.

I agree Lacey 10, it could have been avoided. The Staffie's owner must have known full well his dogs were dangerous.
One of my dogs was attacked by a Staffie not long ago, it was muzzled but off lead. Mine dog was heavily pregnant at the time, and on her lead, she was just walking gently next to me in the sunshine, when this darn thing came like a bolt out of the blue at her. Mine didn't even defend herself. The Staffie sure meant business, and I have no doubt at all, if he hadn't been muzzled he would have killed her. I wrestled the thing off her, risking a serious bite myself, as the owner just stood and watched! If his dog had killed mine, or she'd lost her puppies, I'm afraid I would have wanted a darn site more than his just being on lead +muzzled in future.

Thanks Lacey. She was o.k. thank God, but very shaken up. I took her straight to the vets to be checked over, because the damn Staffie had been trying to bite her stomach and throat. A couple of weeks later, she gave birth to 5 healthy babes.
Luckily someone witnessed the incident and noted the bloke's car number plate, and the police went and had words with him (which surprised me).

Ebony, no more worries pup. All dogs go to heaven.
Debra Forman, you have my condolences as well as my blessings to push your government to get tough with dogs that were bred to be aggressive.
I stand that breed specific traing and licensing should be seriously considered especially for dogs like this.

Remind me, these dogs were bred to have a genetic propensity for what exactly.
