Jail 'inevitable' for man who deliberately set dog on fire

A man who admitted setting fire to a family's pet dog will inevitably be jailed, a Northern Ireland court has been told.
...[snip]...
Cody, a three-year-old Collie, was left barely recognisable after she was doused in a flammable liquid and set alight in the Co Antrim village of Maghaberry on August 26 2012.

She was so badly injured her ribs and other joints were visible through the charred flesh.

The dog survived for two weeks but was eventually put down after vets concluded she would never fully recover.

In a dramatic development during the second day of the high profile trial at Belfast Crown Court, Stewart who had denied the charges for two years, changed his plea minutes before the dog's owners were due to give evidence.

And yet again words fail me at the cruelty some people inflict on innocent dogs.

Why? Why do they do it?

OMG! I am slowly searching through the haze in my head for words.
I burned most of my face with steam when I was 18-20. Can't remember exactly, quite some years ago.
Sometime(a few years)later a pup climbed up on a pile of wood and curiously reached over to smell and taste the fish soup(for my dogs)I had just placed on the table, the pup fell in. His screams hurt me so badly.
All I could think of was the pain he was going through. If he did recover his quality of life would not be good. I sadly put him down.
Because of those 2 experiences I often talked about, I also just as often told people I would never wish that kind of pain on anyone.
I digress.(was going to stop here)

(after thought)
That being said, I still feel a strong need for prayer.
No worries for Cody, all dogs go to heaven.
On the other hand, although I don't believe in Hell as it is spoken about in the Bible, I do firmly believe there is natural retribution.
I feel for these pitiful excuses of humans only because I can relate to the pain of being burned, but there is nothing I can personally do when Natural Law steps up to plate.

Aye that a suitable punishment would be a bonfire execution...I would strike the first match...there aren't words. I digress...put him on a bonfire for a suitable amount of time and THEN throw him in jail...let him experience the suffering firsthand. There is indeed evil in this world.
