Search for owner after dog attacks chickens

Police Scotland officers in north east Fife are appealing for information after a dog attacked chickens at the weekend.

A black and white dog, similar to a collie breed, entered a pen at a rural location between Kingskettle and Burnturk and chased a brood of chickens, killing one.
The incident happened at around 10.40am on Saturday and police are now trying to trace the owner of the dog, which was not on a lead.

PC Susan O’Brien said: “It is concerning that this attack occurred on someone’s private land and that the owner of the dog has not taken measures to keep their pet under proper control.

“We are very keen to trace the dog owner in attempt to prevent any further incidents.

The dogs were dispatched
