VANDALS have damaged a children's play area in Newbury after allowing their dogs to bite them, causing the Town Council to take down the park's swings.

Repeated teeth marks were found on the equipment at a park in Dickens Walk which costs £400 for the local authority to replace each time. It is thought to have been caused by dogs being encouraged to bite and pull on the seats.

Due to the expense and continuing occurrence of the vandalism the council has been forced to take down the swings indefinitely in the interest of public safety.
