I read this this morning , frightening from what I read the lady had no spleen and that was why she fell susceptible to the infection.

How very sad.
I wonder if she had developed a tolerance to the penicillin.

The worst infection I ever had was from a cat biting the base of my thumb. Although the wound was thoroughly cleaned within two hours my hand was swollen to twice its size and I had red streaks running up my arm. I was put on antibiotics, but even so for the next three weeks the wound was oozing so much pus that I was changing the dressing every two hours or so and I couldn't use my hand. A very scary experience!
