The link did not open but I have a fairly good idea what it would have shown. Too much experience of some not very nice Romanians not to know. Although I hasten to add I have known some lovely ones so please to not misunderstand me.

It is a FB link, which was removed by the moderators. Is there another site where the video is located? Oh, I've got it now but the moderators will remove it soon.

Gosh, poor dogs. I wonder why they don't just use normal methods? Beheading them? Way OTT...

Yeah, it's awful 100% And then they don't even remove things, they just leave the rotting mess in there with the other dogs. No real excuses for that, at all. But thus is the culture of them and we cannot expect them to change.

Unfortunately anyone who's ever been behind the scenes in US shelters, no matter rural or urban knows an awful lot of evil goes on as a result of overcrowding. Sad to say there are no answers, fix your pets and find some way of stopping backyard breeders is only a drop in the bucket...ghastly pun not intended.

If the above link does not work try this one to YouTube

lovemybull, whatever happens in the States I don't think the dogs are NOT fed or given water & if they manage to survive, they are slaughtered in the presence of the other dogs

These dogs are NOT the products of BYB breeders or Puppy farmers, these are dogs abandoned in the streets & countryside of eastern Europe-not just Romania

These countries are part of the EU & have signed up to the EU Animal Welfare laws, it's not just a cultural thing, it is law breaking in the most horrendous ways

See, Joedee... I did not know that. Thanks for that information. That video does show just how awfully they're dealing with the dogs. They don't always observe proper practices, of course here either... but I mean this is another level entirely.

They are beating to death, dismembering dogs, and stringing them up to hang and just leaving them there. LEAVING the dead dogs in the roads. Horrid. Poisoning them for a slow and agonizing death is also wrong. I hope at least something can be done.

I won't watch the video as I've seen too many awful things already and I think the descriptions make me feel sick enough already.
I agree with Joedee, it's not just a cultural thing. Even if it was a cultural/traditional thing, I DON'T CARE! In this modern world I expect cultures to evolve enough to know stuff like that is plain wrong. Being from a different culture is not an excuse for animal cruelty, even if it wasn't covered by EU laws. Just like murder, slavery, rape and child labour shouldn't be excused because it's done by a different culture.
I don't know how to stop this or how to make a difference. Except trying to make a difference in my small and limited environment and hoping that one day, more and more people will change and stuff like that will disappear

I can't remember who said this but one day we will look back to this time and think what barbarians we were, killing and slaughtering at will.

I do not think culture is a good excuse either most of the time. But there is a fine line between something being wrong, and someone from another area thinking it's wrong because they don't agree with it. This comes double if you're speaking from the side of the accused. That is why horrible things like this are overlooked.

Hypothetical: If I am of the mindset that dogs are insignificant creatures worthy of no respect or honor, telling me I'm WRONG will not register. What do you mean I'm wrong? There is nothing wrong with my mindset. When politics get involved... it's the same way. You must tread carefully, especially where laws aren't involved.

America has caused lots of problems by judging other cultures as wrong and trying to step in where they are not wanted. Sometimes, absolutely no good comes of it. Wrong by whose standards? I mean it's really touchy on all levels.

Extreme cultural differences cannot be solved by shooting down people and telling them they are wrong. It won't get through to them, and it can't because just because we see something as horrible doesn't mean they can see it that way or understand why we feel the way we do.

Their entire mindset is different. If they thought it was wrong or cared, then they would not do it. These people are breaking laws, which is different... but TBH, they probably only conformed to the laws because they had to, and never had any real intention of following them.
