Dog reunited with its owners after missing for a year

DEL VALLE, Texas - A Del Valle, Texas couple with two dogs thought they saw something out of the corner of their eye one day about a month ago.

When Jason and April went outside to investigate they found a stray dog in their yard.

"It was really thirsty, maybe a little bit emaciated, but definitely thirsty, and it was covered in burrs and looked like it hadn't been taken care of in a little while," said Jason Ludwig.

Good Samaritans found a rabies tag on the dog and called authorities to find the rightful owners.

What they didn't know is that the dog named Sadie was from Leander, more than an hour away, and she had been missing from her owners there for a year.

"I'm in shock really you know I just couldn't believe that after all that time she is back with us," said Sherry Payne, the Leander owner of Sadie.

Jason and April shot home video of the reunion between Sadie and her owners which clearly shows a happy canine.

"It was sad because she's been such a big part of our lives and our family and it was sad she wasn't there and to be given a second chance, it was more than I could say. Tears of joy for sure," said a smiling Kaylee Payne.

And the story has not ended there, as yet another stray dog has showed up to Jason and April's house, but unfortunately for him his owners have yet to be traced.

I do hope they are so that there is yet another happy ending.

Of course we remember you and the wonderful video clips you put up for us. It is such a shame that you could not take her with you when you had to move and I do hope that one day you and your lovely girl will be reunited again. I am sure she will remember you as you and she had such a close relationship.

Pitboy, Malka is right. We all remember you and your wonderfully socialized dog and great videos. So sad that many places don't allow pit bulls, they truly are not all bad. We hope you will come frolic with us even though you don't have your dog anymore.

Lovely Snowy was reunited after almost 4 years:

"My little Snowy has been returned to me after 3 years and 8 months. She was found wandering up and down a busy dual carriageway in Portsmouth and a kindly gentleman was concerned she may get run over so took her to the local council dog centre who were able to contact me due to her microchip. She is a little old lady now and very overweight but the Vet is confident she will be fine. The Vet has been absolutely brilliant - Tracey Manning from the Hook Veterinary Centre. Snowy has fitted right back in and is just following me around all the time. I never thought that I would get her back after so long and this is just so brilliant that she if finally home."
