City council plan to limit number of dogs walked in Coventry

People in Coventry could be banned from walking more than four dogs at a time under plans being considered by the city council.

The authority is also looking at designating zones where dogs need to be kept on a lead at all times and raising the fine for anyone who breaches a dog order from £75 to £80.

A report said the proposals were in response to complaints about people not being able to control their dogs.

The council has powers to create Dog Control Orders.

Zones where dogs might be banned could include gardens in city parks, churchyards, car parks and pavements next to roads.

Orders limiting the number of dogs walked at one time are already in place in Birmingham and Manchester, the authority said.

If this will stop dog-walkers from taking on too many dogs then I think it is probably a good idea.

this is my town...... the no more than 4 dogs is a good thing i guess, i don't have an issue with well behaved dogs being in groups, in fact i love to see dogs playing together, i don't understand the bit about dogs being banned from pavements next roads.... how do i get my dog from the house to the field? or do they just mean off lead? i am sure there will be a petition about it and if it does get passed it will be like most other things here... not enforced
