Dog survives 150' cliff fall

A lucky pooch who plunged 150ft down a cliff was rescued without a scratch on him.

Maurice and Marion Harvey were walking springer spaniel Trigger and their sprocker spaniel Stanley when both pets bolted towards the cliff edge.Stanley stopped short of the drop and ran back to its owners but Trigger, who belongs to the couple's daughter Kate, didn't pull up in time and plunged off the edge.

He rolled 150ft down the precipice before landing on a precarious ledge on the cliff at Charmouth, Dorset.

Mr and Mrs Harvey, from Chard in Somerset, alerted the coastguards who raced to the scene.

An officer was winched down to six-year-old Trigger, who had hidden under a small tree growing on the ledge.

The dog was tempted out with a treat, put in a special animal rescue bag and hoisted back to the top of the cliff.

Amazingly, Trigger suffered no injuries in the fall and was reunited with his owners safe and well.

One very lucky dog but dogs should always be kept on a lead on cliff tops.

Typical Springer.

Probably wondering what all the fuss is about.

I remeber watching Fingal (my previous Springer) fly over a wall at Dunnet Head lighthouse and vanish. There was about 6 feet of land the other side of the wall. Here's the wall in question........

Just on the grass the other side of the wall. I ran towards to the wall expecting the worse but he just jumped back up onto the wall from the other side and stood there wagging his tail - no doubt wondering what was keeping me.
