You`d probably get more response if you put a post in the Training section.
You need to teach your dog recall. In the meantime I wouldn`t let her offlead in open areas or near roads. Any good training book or dog club will help you with teaching this. Decide a word - Come! is as good as any. When she is near you, say the word and give a treat. Keep doing this, then when she gets the idea that the word is followed by nice food, do it at a greater distance. Keep it fun and rewarding for her. When you try it outside, use a long lead to start with so she doesn`t get the chance to ignore it. Good luck with your dog.

I agree with ClaireandDaisy but wouldi add that if your dog is not particularly food orientated, you might try a special toy for recall instead. The toy should be kepto special by not letting her play with it all the time. You need to make her really want the toy (throwing it to yourself or if its a rope kind of toy, whirling it round etc). When she comes back, she gets to play with it for awhile.

also practice her coming back to you, clipping on the lead, having a play or treat and then letting her go again. This way she realises that coming back to you is fun and that it doesn't mean the end of the walk.

Hi, Ive got 4 dogs two of which are springers. You need to get her into a good Puppy/starter class. Dotty my younger ESS has had a perfect recall since she was just 3 months old, Debbie our trainer used a clicker and reward system which I think is a great way to cover that part of their training, although I had real problems to get her to walk to on a lead by this method and ended moving trainers because of it. The guy we went to second time round x police had her walking on lead without pulling in two sessions
